My Counselling Journey
Hi, I’m Lynda — a qualified counsellor and the founder of Spread Your Wings Therapy, a private practice offering a warm, non-judgemental space for adults who are navigating life’s challenges.
My journey into counselling began many years ago, when I first accessed therapy during a time when I was feeling overwhelmed by life. That experience became a turning point. With the support of a skilled therapist, I began to understand myself more deeply, develop healthier coping strategies, and build stronger boundaries. I learned how to communicate more openly, how to honour my needs, and how to hold space for the parts of me that were hurting. It was, quite honestly, life-changing.
That process inspired me to train as a counsellor myself. I wanted to offer the same kind of safe, supportive space that had helped me so much. Since qualifying, I’ve worked both face-to-face and online with a wide range of clients and presenting issues. I gained in-person experience at a community counselling service, and worked online with a national counselling platform, supporting people through everything from anxiety and grief to relationship challenges, identity struggles, and self-worth issues.
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I have passed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency, which means I work in line with their ethical framework and am committed to providing safe, professional, and effective therapy. I also regularly attend supervision and undertake additional training to ensure my work is reflective, ethical, and in the best interests of each person I support.
I know how powerful it can be to have someone truly listen, without judgment or pressure. Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and find more helpful ways to cope and move forward.
Alongside my client work, I create content on social media to raise awareness about counselling and mental health. I’m passionate about challenging the myths and misconceptions that can make therapy feel intimidating or inaccessible. I want people to know that counselling isn’t just for when you’re in crisis — it’s for anyone who wants to feel more connected, more grounded, and more in control of their life.
Through Spread Your Wings Therapy, I offer a supportive space where you can feel heard, respected, and gently encouraged. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, burnout, low self-esteem, neurodiversity, grief, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling stuck — you are welcome here.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to go through it alone.
