My own Journey, from counselling - to counsellor
Hi, I’m Lynda — a qualified counsellor and the founder of Spread Your Wings Therapy, a private practice offering a warm, non-judgemental space for adults who are navigating life’s challenges.
My journey into counselling began many years ago, when I first accessed therapy during a time when I was feeling overwhelmed by life. That experience became a turning point. With the support of a skilled therapist, I began to understand myself more deeply, develop healthier coping strategies, and build stronger boundaries. I learned to communicate more openly, to honour my needs, and to hold space for the parts of me that were hurting. It was, quite honestly, life-changing.
That process inspired me to train as a counsellor. I wanted to offer the same safe, supportive space that helped me. Since qualifying, I’ve worked face-to-face and online with a wide range of clients. I gained experience at a community counselling service and an online national platform, supporting people with anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, identity struggles, and self-worth issues.
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I have passed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency, which means I work in line with their ethical framework and I am committed to providing safe, professional, and effective therapy. I also regularly attend supervision and undertake additional training to ensure my work is reflective, ethical, and in the best interests of each person I support.
I know how powerful it can be to have someone truly listen, without judgment or pressure. Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It provides a space to understand yourself, process your experiences, and develop practical coping strategies that empower you to move forward with confidence.
Alongside my client work, I create social media content to raise awareness of counselling and mental health. I’m passionate about challenging the myths and misconceptions that can make therapy feel intimidating or inaccessible. I want people to know that counselling isn’t just for when you’re in crisis — it’s for anyone who wants to feel more connected, more grounded, and more in control of their life.
Through Spread Your Wings Therapy, I offer a supportive space where you can feel heard, respected, and gently encouraged. Therapy can help you explore difficult emotions, gain perspective, and learn effective ways to address anxiety, burnout, low self-esteem, neurodiversity, grief, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck—so you can make meaningful changes in your life.
You don’t have to know all the answers, and you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
